The saying from a popular show set in Boston is true, “You want to go where everyone knows your name.” And it’s commonplace these days. Patrons of your bar or restaurant can check out the menu and make reservations, for sure they can read reviews, but they can also check out your social media pages and photos and profiles of your staff. Just like you know your regulars – people can get to know you and your staff on social media. Or can they? Sometimes there is a gatekeeper that keeps control of social media but other times its more of a free flow. I think its better to have real fans of your establishment interact with your social media properties. Let them comment about how great the food is or how great a server is or how much fun they had at an event. The more prospective patrons can see the life and get the story behind a place, then social media can help to capture the magic that goes on behind the scenes through your social media stream. And that way everyone can really know your name.
